Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said 50,000 police members have been directed to conduct a cleanliness campaign in order to prevent the spread of aedes mosquito.

The DMP boss made the disclosure while speaking at an inaugural ceremony of cleanliness campaign on preventing dengue at Rajarbagh Police Lines in the capital on Saturday morning.

Asaduzzaman said, “Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has found larvae of aedes mosquito, the carrier of dengue virus, in Rajarbagh Police Lines area. After knowing that, we have directed all the units of DMP to conduct a cleanliness drive in order to destroy the larvae of aedes mosquito. The drive begins this morning.”

The cleanliness campaign will continue until the dengue situation comes under control, he added.
