Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said that Germany has assured that they would extend their all-out cooperation to Bangladesh so that its Generalised scheme of preferences (GSP) facilities is not cancelled.
The Minister told this to the reporters after a business delegation of Germany paid him a courtesy call at his ministry office in Sher-e-Banglanagar area of Dhaka on Monday afternoon.
The Garman business delegation came to Bangladesh on a five-day visit to assess its business potentiality.
“Our relation with Germany is very ancient and thus they have been investing here since long. At present, they want to use our jute industry,” the finance minister said.
Claiming that the country’s one of the major export earnings golden ash and jute industry is now facing a hard time, Kamal said jute goods are used in Germany for decorating the BMW and Mercedes-Benz cars.
He further said the visiting business team would meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and then they will undertake their next course of step in this regard.
