Artist Nazma Kabir depicts current time, nature

Artist Nazma Kabir has depicted the July-August mass upsring, city life and beauty of nature in her second solo exhibition titled Brushstrokes of Nature under way at the Safiuddin Shilpalay of Dhanmondi in Dhaka.

The five-day exhibition, inaugurated by fisheries and livestock adviser Farida Akhter on Saturday, is displaying 60 artworks created with acrylic on canvas and watercolour on paper.

Founder of Focus Bangladesh and president of IWS Bangladesh artist Kauser Hossain attended as special guest at the inaugural ceremony.

Nazma Kabir’s watercolour painting titled August Revolution portrays the bravery of the youth during the student-led mass uprising.

Her acrylic on canvas titled Democracy shows rally’s on the street participated by people of the city.

Another acrylic on canvas titled A Village Scene in Bangladesh shows a landscape of the golden paddy field during the late autumn.

A watercolour painting titled Having a Break shows two rickshaw pullers parking their rickshaws and taking rest on the street.

Nazma Kabir said that she attempted to depict the essence of nature, painting the world with delicate, artistic strokes. ‘My inspiration comes from the decades of travel I experienced during my career in international development.’
