অক্টোবর মাসে নতুন করে খাদ্যখাতে মূল্যস্ফীতির হার বেড়ে ১২ দশমিক ৫৬ শতাংশ হয়েছে, যা গত বছরের এই সময়ে ছিল ৮ দশমিক ৫০ শতাংশ। আগের মাস সেপ্টেম্বরে ছিল ১২ দশমিক ৩৭ শতাংশ। মূল্যস্ফীতির হার বাড়ার পেছনে আলু ও ডিমের মূল্যবৃদ্ধি দায়ী বলে জানিয়েছেন পরিকল্পনামন্ত্রী এম এ মান্নান।
সোমবার (৬ নভেম্বর) বাংলাদেশ পরিসংখ্যান ব্যুরো (বিবিএস) মূল্যস্ফীতি নিয়ে চলতি বছরের অক্টোবর মাসের ভোক্তা মূল্যসূচকের (সিপিআই) হালনাগাদ তথ্য প্রকাশ করেছে। তাতে মূল্যস্ফীতির এ চিত্র দেখা গেছে।
বিবিএসের তথ্যে দেখা গেছে, গত বছরের অক্টোবর মাসে খাদ্যখাতে মূল্যস্ফীতির হার ছিল ৮ দশমিক ৫০ শতাংশ। অর্থাৎ বছরওয়ারী পয়েন্ট টু পয়েন্টের ভিত্তিতে ৮ দশমিক ৫০ শতাংশ থেকে এক লাফে খাদ্যখাতে মূল্যস্ফীতির হার হয়েছে ১২ দশমিক ৫৬ শতাংশ। অর্থাৎ এক বছরে খাদ্যখাতে মূল্যস্ফীতি বেড়েছে ৪ দশমিক ০৬ শতাংশ। অক্টোবর মাসে আলু, মাছ, চাল, ডাল, তেল, লবণ, মাছ, মাংস, সবজি, মসলা ও তামাকজাতীয় পণ্যের দাম বাড়ায় খাদ্যে মূল্যস্ফীতির হার বেড়েছে বলে জানিয়েছে বিবিএস।
বিবিএসের হিসাবে, গত আগস্ট মাসে খাদ্য মূল্যস্ফীতি ছিল ১২ দশমিক ৫৪ শতাংশ, যা গত ১১ বছর ৭ মাসের মধ্যে সর্বোচ্চ। এর আগে ২০১২ সালের জানুয়ারি মাসে খাদ্য মূল্যস্ফীতি ১২ দশমিক ৭৩ শতাংশে উঠেছিল। এক দশকের মধ্যে গত আগস্ট মাসে হঠাৎ খাদ্যে মূল্যস্ফীতি প্রথমবারের মতো দুই অঙ্কের ঘরে উঠে যায়।
অথচ চলতি ২০২৩ ২৪ অর্থবছরে সরকার লক্ষ্যমাত্রা নির্ধারণ করেছিল মূল্যস্ফীতি ৬ শতাংশের মধ্যে রাখার। কিন্তু চলতি অর্থবছরের প্রথম তিন মাসে গড় মূল্যস্ফীতি ৯ দশমিক ৭৪ শতাংশের মধ্যে। অক্টোবর মাসে সাধারণ মূল্যস্ফীতির হার বেড়ে হয়েছে ৯ দশমিক ৯৩ শতাংশ, সেপ্টেম্বর মাসে এখাতে মূল্যস্ফীতি ছিল ৯ দশমিক ৬৩ শতাংশে।
বিবিএসের তথ্যে দেখা যায়, অক্টোবর মাসে খাদ্যে মূল্যস্ফীতি হয়েছে ১২ দশমিক ৫৬ শতাংশ। এর অর্থ হলো গত বছরের অক্টোবর মাসে যে খাদ্যপণ্য ১০০ টাকায় কেনা গেছে, এবছরের অক্টোবর তা কিনতে হয়েছে ১১২ টাকা ৫৬ পয়সায়। অর্থাৎ মাত্র ১০০ টাকার খাবার কিনতে এক বছরে ১২ টাকা ৫৬ পয়সা বাড়তি খরচ করতে হয়েছে।
খাদ্যখাতে মূল্যস্ফীতি বৃদ্ধি প্রসঙ্গে পরিকল্পনামন্ত্রী এম এ মান্নান জাগো নিউজকে বলেন, ‘আলু ও ডিম ডিস্টার্ব করেছে। এই কারণে মূল্যস্ফীতি বেড়েছে। তবে একটা ভালো দিক মূল্যস্ফীতি লাফিয়ে লাফিয়ে বাড়ছে না, ধীরে ধীরে বাড়ছে। তারপরও আমরা এটা চাই না।’
কমে মূল্যস্ফীতি কমবে- এ প্রসঙ্গে মন্ত্রী বলেন, ‘আগামী মাসে কৃষকের ঘরে ঘরে আমন ধান উঠবে, তখন মূল্যস্ফীতি কমবে।’
The inflation rate in the food sector increased to 12.56 percent in the month of October, which was 8.50 percent at this time last year. It was 12.37 percent in the previous month of September. On Monday (November 6), Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) released the updated Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for the month of October this year. It shows this picture of inflation.
According to BBS data, the inflation rate in the food sector was 8.50 percent in October last year. In other words, the inflation rate in the food sector has jumped from 8.50 percent to 12.56 percent on a year-on-year point-to-point basis. That is, the price inflation in the food sector increased by 4.06 percent in one year. In the month of October, the price of potato, fish, rice, pulses, oil, salt, fish, meat, vegetables, spices and tobacco products increased and the rate of food inflation increased, BBS said.
According to the BBS, food inflation was 12.54 percent in August, the highest in 11 years and 7 months. Earlier in January 2012, food price inflation rose to 12.73 percent. Food inflation rose to double digits for the first time in a decade last August.
However, the government had set a target of keeping inflation within 6 percent in the current fiscal year 2023-24. But the average inflation in the first three months of the current financial year is 9.74 percent. The general inflation rate increased to 9.93 percent in October, compared to 9.63 percent in September.
According to the data of BBS, the price inflation of food has been 12.56 percent in the month of October. This means that the food product which was bought for 100 taka in October last year, has to be bought for 112 taka 56 paisa in October this year. In other words, to buy only 100 rupees of food, I had to spend an additional 12 rupees 56 paise in a year.
Regarding the increase in price inflation in the food sector, Planning Minister MA Mannan told Jago News, “Potatoes and eggs have disturbed. Due to this inflation has increased. But one good thing is that inflation is not increasing by leaps and bounds, it is gradually increasing. Still we don’t want it.’
In this context, the minister said, “Next month, Aman paddy will grow in the houses of the farmers, then the inflation will reduce.”
